Château Laniote 2015

Château Laniote is a renowned winery located in the Saint-Émilion appellation in the Bordeaux wine region of France. It is classified as a Grand Cru Classé, which is a prestigious classification for the wines of Saint-Émilion. Château Laniote is known for producing high-quality red wines that are highly sought after by wine collectors and connoisseurs.

The history of Château Laniote can be traced back to the 18th century when it was established as a vineyard. Over the years, it has changed hands and been owned by different families, but it has consistently maintained its reputation for producing excellent wines. Today, Château Laniote is owned by the family of the late Edouard Fortin, who acquired the estate in 1976 and made significant improvements to the vineyards and winemaking facilities.

The vineyards of Château Laniote cover around 8 hectares (19.8 acres) and are primarily planted with Merlot (80%), with smaller proportions of Cabernet Franc (10%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%). The vineyards are situated on the slopes of Saint-Émilion, which is known for its limestone-rich soils that contribute to the unique characteristics of the wines produced in the region.

The winemaking at Château Laniote follows traditional methods, with careful attention paid to the vineyard management, harvesting, and vinification processes. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted before fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wines are then aged in oak barrels, with a portion of them being new oak, to add complexity and structure to the final wines.
