"Tannin satiné et crémeux porté par une structure très fournie qui se déploie toute en subtilité du toucher de bouche jusqu’à sa finale. Grain remarquablement fin et frais. (translation: Satin and creamy tannins carried by a very well provided structure that unfolds in mouth with subtle touches all the way to finish. Remarkably fine and fresh grain.)" - BETTANE & DESSEAUVE (5/3/2019), Ratings: 96
"The 2018 La Mondotte is one of the highlights in this vintage. A rich, extravagant Saint-Émilion, La Mondotte retains a surprising amount of nuance and detail for a wine of its size. Crème de cassis, lavender, mint, spice and licorice all run through this sumptuous, full-throttle wine. Bright saline notes add energy and vibrancy. Simply put, the 2018 is stunning." - VINOUS (ANTONIO GALLONI) (5/1/2019), Ratings: 94-97
"Wow. This is very dense and powerful with linear tannins and vivid acidity that run straight through the center of the wine. It’s full-bodied with great freshness. Loads of blackberry character and a salty-mineral undertone. Extremely long in the finish." - JAMES SUCKLING (4/12/2019), Ratings: 97-98
"Intense raspberry and plum compote flavors show juicy energy, backed by a liberal dose of roasted apple wood notes. Grippy and still a bit chewy, but the drive is there, along with a buried mineral edge that lingers." - WINE SPECTATOR (JAMES MOLESWORTH) (4/3/2019), Ratings: 96-99
Effective October 18, 2019, the US Trade Representative's Office imposed a new 25% value-added tax (i.e., import tariffs) on a wide range of European products (including French wine, Italian cheese and single malt Scotch whisky) to penalize EU subsidies for Airbus. EU has made counter-claims agains the US subsidies for Boeing. A ruling by WTO on EU's counter-claims is expected in the spring of 2020.
For any Futures (en primeur) and Pre-Arrival items, our current prices are shown before taxes and tariffs. Prior to shipment, we may have to collect any tariffs levied by the US government at the time. Tariffs will be based on the date of importation and the rate of US tariffs in place at the time. Current rules exempt wines with alcohol content above 14.5% from the newly imposed 25% tariffs. We will offer free storage in our professional wine cellar in Bordeaux in the event of any delay in importation caused by the uncertainties created by tariffs.
If you believe these tariffs are NOT in the best interest of US consumers like yourself, please consider writing to your congressional representatives to let them hear your voice. You can find out how to contact your representatives here using this directory provided by the US Congress.
