When our friends in Bordeaux told us that Château Mangot is surrounded by prestigious names such as Château Valandraud, Château Fleur Cardinale and Château Faugères (three wines we love), it got our attention. As our customers know, we firmly believe in terroir, the complete environment consisting of soil, climate, and people, all critical factors necessary to produce great wine. It turns out the wine critics have also taken note.
Highly rated vintage of 2018
Lisa Perrotti-Brown (MW) at Robert Parker's Wine Advocate awarded a rating of 93-95 points to two wines from Château Mangot. The first is a traditional Saint-Emilion (85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon). The second is a special cuvée that is cabernet-heavy (40% Cabernet Franc plus 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, the remaining 40% is Merlot).
Château Mangot 2018: "Blended of 85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, the deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Mangot is a little closed to begin, unfurling to show off bright blackberry, crushed blueberries and warm plums scents plus notions of lilacs and cedar. Full-bodied and laden with layers of pure, vibrant black and blue fruits, it has a firm, rounded tannin texture and long, refreshing finish." - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (4/23/2019, Bordeaux 2018 Issue), Rating: 93-95
Château Mangot Cuvée Todeschini 2018: "Composed of 40% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2018 Todeschini is deep garnet-purple colored and gives up broody notions of new leather, crushed stones and tar with a core of baked red and black cherries, mulberries and warm plums plus wafts of garrigue and fragrant earth. Full-bodied, firm and grainy in the mouth, it has loads of muscular fruit and a lively line, finishing perfumed." - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (4/23/2019, Bordeaux 2018 Issue), Rating: 93-95
